Stephen is a career banker with experience across the full spectrum of capital markets and banking. Initially joining Mizuho International, he became CFO and COO of this investment banking subsidiary of the largest Japanese bank. He moved on to Fox-Pitt Kelton, the then only pure play global investment bank for financial institutions where he was group CFO & COO. After an early focus on group strategy following the group's acquisition by Swiss Re, he worked closely on delivering key objectives for the group such as the opening of an Asian office and the creation of a capital markets subsidiary for Swiss Re. In 2005 he moved onto RAB Capital, a listed multi strategy hedge fund platform - the business addressed both debt and equity markets and had a principal focus on natural resources. Initially joining to acquire boutique fund businesses, he later became CFO; in 2008 he was appointed CEO, continuing the strategic expansion of the group into Asia, and addressing the many challenges posed by the GFC. He then moved to Collabrium Capital, an emerging market start up, where he became CEO - the business comprised an emerging market equity hedge fund, and a financing activity for emerging market firms principally in infrastructure, aviation and agri-tech. In 2018 he joined the Railsbank group, a business offering "banking as a service" to new financial institutions or non-financial groups wishing to embed banking functionality into their product offerings. He was CFO, and served on the boards of the regulated entities.

Today, Stephen has a number of advisory, non-executive, and trustee roles. He is also a part-time banking & finance lecturer and mentor at a UK Business School.

Stephen graduated with BA (Hons) in Economic History and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, having qualified with KPMG. He has made contributions to several industry bodies, including a technical committee established by ISDA, and the Hedge fund Standards Board (now AISB)
